The Public Naming Application and Indoor Pigeons
I'll soon be submitting an application to suggest Bloordale Beach Park as the name for the new park coming to Croatia St. and my two-dimensional pigeons are in a window display
1. The Public Naming Application for Bloordale Beach Park
This month, I’ll be submitting a public naming application to the city, along with a petition and letters of support from community members and local business owners. I wrote about the Bloordale Beach Park idea in previous posts, so be sure to check out this one and also this one, if you need a bit of context. In summary, Bloordale Beach Park would be the perfect name for the new park the City of Toronto will be creating on Croatia Street.
Please make sure to sign the Bloordale Beach Park petition, if you haven’t already done so. The petition has 989 signatures, so far. People have been leaving great comments, and I don’t even know who most of these commenters are. Thanks to all those who have shown their support for this. Make sure you tell everyone you know to sign the petition as well. If you’d prefer to sign a piece of paper, hard copies of the petition are available in Bloordale at the Nuthouse, TOWN, and B-Side Barbers.
If you’d like to contribute a letter of support for the name Bloordale Beach Park, please send it to me at bloordalebeach@gmail.com.
One guy at the city told me the name for the park will be finalized by the end of the year, and that this application will require additional consultation—I guess they’re really not too sure about this name. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
2. Indoor Pigeons
The store TOWN in Bloordale (at 1187 Bloor St W) made a pigeony window display that includes postcards and stickers I created. My neighbourhood’s best pigeons are the two-dimensional variety, in my opinion. In the window, among my pigeon creations are finger puppet pigeons, wind-up pigeons, and a wind-up pigeon driving a peanut-shaped car. Although, they’re three-dimensional, they are also excellent pigeons for the neighbourhood—as far as I know, nobody has been trying to feed these ones.
I recently created a square pigeon magnet with rounded corners as well, which you can get online or at TOWN or Art Metropole.

That’s all the news, for the time being.
More from me soon!
Yours truly,
Shari Kasman
